The Galo Art Gallery will show the art of Sjoco Sjon from Amsterdam and Sister Flash from Torino during the months of April and May.
We are very excited to see these two styles come together.
Maria’s art work has a loud color and depth that is never ending. She was one of the first in Torino to do stencil art in the streets back in the 80’s when the word street art didn’t even exist over on this side of the pond. We can say she was one of the first in Torino. Her life style as an artist has many sides to it from commissions in Rome on the sides of churches, she’s an active member of the art and culture digital festival Share in Torino and so the list goes on about her artistic ways and projects that can not be put in to one category. She is a force to be reckoned with.
Sjoco Sjon another artist to show at the Galo Art Gallery who is a graduate from the Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. He is a fellow friend and colleague of some of the artists that have done shows here in the past such as Morkey, Ovni, Lil’ Shy, Minivila, Maoma, Wayne Horse and of course his partner in crime Ottograph. His style recently caught the eye of the Centraal Museum of Utrecht which led them to commission works from Sjoco Sjon in 2010.
Sjoco Sjon also started researching the visual elements that are being used for the glorification of religions, militias, political parties and popular figures – past and present.
Lets just say that his career in the art world over the last six years has taken off with a high speed, having done projects and shows in Brazil, Los Angeles and many cities around Europe. Sjoco’s art works show the time and detail that he puts in to each piece with a result that is eye catching and explicit. The Galo Art Gallery is proud to welcome him for his first show in Italy.
